1. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (released December 13th; showing in 2D, IMAX, 4DX and Superscreen)
The rousing story of Rohan king Helm Hammerhand makes up just a few paragraphs in the appendices to J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Now, renowned anime filmmaker Kenji Kamiyama brings us Helm's story in all its glory: performed via motion capture and eventually rendered in bold anime strokes, it promises a distinctive and exciting origin story that explores the naming of the critical fortress, Helm's Deep. Succession's Brian Cox brings his throaty roar to the role of Helm.

2. Kraven the Hunter (released December 13th)
The Sony Spider-Man Universe (Madame Web; Morbius) debuts its new hero, Kraven the Hunter, but don't expect him to play nice. Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the expert Russian big-game hunter Sergei Kravinoff who adopts the alter-ego of Kraven: a man with heightened, almost bestial senses who becomes an apex predator. Expect a Gladiator-centric supporting cast in the form of Russell Crowe and Fred Hechinger.

3. Mufasa: The Lion King (released December 20th; showing in 2D, IMAX, 4DX and Superscreen)
Discover how Pride Rock lions Mufasa and Scar became sworn enemies in Disney's photo-realistic CG prequel to their blockbusting 2019 remake of The Lion King. Before the events of that film, Scar (voiced by Kelvin Harrison Jr.) was known as Taka and Mufasa (voiced by Aaron Pierre) was introduced into the former's clan as his step-sibling. Oscar-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins is behind the camera and the soundtrack includes contributions from Disney veteran Lin-Manuel Miranda.

4. Better Man (released December 26th)
Robbie Williams goes ape, quite literally, in this unusual and fascinating origin story from The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey. Discover how the former Take That member rose to conquer the world as a chart-topping solo act, all the while rendered as a CG monkey. Surely he should go by the name Mr. Bonobojangles?
5. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (released December 27th)
Sega icon Sonic the Hedgehog has already powered his way through two successful live-action adventures and in his third, the character faces his greatest threat to date. Step forward, the menacing Shadow, voiced by Keanu Reeves, who enters into battle with Sonic, Tails (Colleen O' Shaughnessy) and Knuckles (Idris Elba).
They're also up against their old nemesis Doctor Robotnik (Jim Carrey, who doubles up to also play Robotnik's aged father) who has paired with Shadow to bring Sonic down.
