Ocean with David Attenborough (May 8th & 11th)

Narrated by the legendary broadcaster, this stunning documentary explores the vast and mysterious world that exists beneath the waves. With the help of some jaw-dropping cinematography, Ocean with David Attenborough will plunge you into the most extraordinary sub-aquatic landscapes imaginable, from vibrant coral reefs teeming with life to the haunting silence of the deep sea – all while highlighting the fragility of our seas in the face of climate change and human impact. The Royal Opera: Wagner's Die Walküre (May 14th & 18th)

Captured live from London’s Covent Garden, this sumptuous new production of Wagner’s Die Walküre – the thunderous second chapter in the German composer’s epic Ring Cycle – brings together world-class singing talent and a glorious ensemble of musicians as gods and mortals collide on stage. Expect raw emotion, thrilling drama and, of course, the spine-tingling Ride of the Valkyries. If you’ve never seen Die Walküre performed live, then this is an opportunity not to be missed.

Holding Back the Years: 40 Years of Simply Red, Live in Santiago (May 15th & 18th)

Simply Red are one of the most successful bands of the past few decades, scoring ten Top 10 hits on the UK singles chart, not to mention a host of prestigious awards. Featuring an electric live performance from Santiago, Chile, this special anniversary film sees Mick Hucknall and co in fine form. The MET 2025: Strauss’s Salome (May 17th)

 
Take your seat for The Metropolitan Opera’s stunning production of Richard Strauss’s Salome, as we live stream a performance direct from New York City. Conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, this much-lauded show reimagines the biblical tragedy in a Victorian-era setting, with South African soprano Elza van den Heever playing the unhinged antiheroine, and Swedish baritone Peter Mattei portraying the imprisoned prophet Jochanaan. Passionate and poignant, Strauss’s Salome is one of the most compelling stage events you’ll experience this year.

The Royal Ballet: Ballet to Broadway: Wheeldon Works (May 22nd & 25th)

We’re going back to the Royal Opera House, but this time for a dance extravaganza. Featuring four short performances, Ballet to Broadway: Wheeldon Works highlights British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon’s gift for blending sensuous classical ballet with Broadway flair. With perennial favourites such as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland sharing the itinerary with fresh new works, it’s a joyful showcase of movement and storytelling — perfect for ballet lovers and newcomers alike.

The Met 2025: Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia (May 31st & June 3rd)

The second Met show to be live streamed this month, Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) is an effervescent reimagining of the much-loved Rossini opera. Featuring a whirlwind plot, infectious melodies and some of the genre’s most spectacular music (including the magical Figaro’s Aria), this rousing treat is pure joy from start to finish.
