What is the plot of Wuthering Heights?

A loose adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, the film promises “a passionate and tumultuous love story” that is both “intense and destructive”, between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. It follows the “Uptown Girl” trope, in which Heathcliff is taken in by a wealthy family to their estate, Wuthering Heights. Here Heathcliff meets Mr Earnshaw’s daughter, Catherine Earnshaw where the two build a possessive, romantic connection.

Emerald Fennell keeps it in the family with Jacob Elordi returning off the back of her previous feature length, Saltburn. Margot Robbie finally gets in front of the camera for one of Fennell’s projects, previously having produced on Promising Young Woman and Saltburn as well as starring alongside Fennell in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
