Despicably big, you can book to watch Minions & Monsters in IMAX, IMAX 3D, 4DX, Superscreen and SCREENX now

The minions have caught the movie-making bug, promising a level of chaos we have come to love and expect from the pint-sized ones. We haven’t seen these little yellow guys since Despicable Me 4, when they gained powers and became Mega Minions and Gru became a dad. With four Despicable Me movies and two spin-offs, the films are always fun crowd-pleasers, and we're excited to see what the googly-eyed dudes get up to next.

So what’s Minions & Monsters about? In a kind of a prequel to the main Despicable Me story, Minions & Monsters takes us back to the 1920s, long before the events of Despicable Me 4. Here, we see the giggly gang during Hollywood’s golden age, when anyone who was anyone wanted to be in the movies; including the minions, who want to make a film about monsters. Eek. Wonder how that will work out… Also, how are they going to get hold of any monsters? No problem. They get their yellow mitts on a magical book through which they can conjure up the creatures. That doesn’t go smoothly at all, of course, they unleash the monster of all monsters and mayhem (thankfully) ensues.

The minions go monster-sized in IMAX + IMAX 3D

We’re used to the mini pranksters being pint-sized, so get used to seeing them gigantic at an IMAX showing. Not to mention the monster, a blobby mountain with many, many eyeballs. Get ready to shrink back as it moves across the screen. And if you’re at a 3D IMAX wearing special glasses, you’ll need to duck out of the way of the flying bananas!

Feel the chaos as well as see it, in 4DX

When monsters stomp, each footfall rattles your seat and raises anticipation. During high-speed chases, you’ll feel every crash and bump with tilted seats, plus wind and water effects. Perfectly timed blasts of air and lightning are all part of the experience.

Watch the screen grow, and grow in SCREENX

The mountain of slime knows no bounds at ScreenX. Extra width is projected onto each side of the screen, making the monster even larger! The minions drive into the slime and become enveloped in a mass of gloop and eyeballs, like a weird underwater world, and that’s the kind of scene that’ll make you feel like you’re being swallowed up too in SCREENX!

Get caught up in the chase on Superscreen

A high-speed chase through a monster-filled jungle shows detail on Superscreen, big enough to take it all in. The banana bunch transform into monster-like versions, even more enjoyable at this higher, bolder level. With sharper visuals and audio too, you’ll feel like you’re getting a luxury upgrade with Superscreen.
