Half term movies: must-see family films in Cineworld

February half term is almost upon us, and that inevitably means a trip to Cineworld to catch the latest family blockbusters. Scroll down for our essential round-up of the films you need to watch.

Dolittle (on release now)

Having defined Iron Man, and redefined Sherlock Holmes, Robert Downey Jr. now turns his attention to author Hugh Lofting's classic creation, Doctor Dolittle, the man who can talk to animals. A Welsh-accented Downey Jr. is joined by a menagerie of A-listers who voice Dolittle's animal companions, including Rami Malek, Emma Thompson and John Cena.

Sonic the Hedgehog (released 14th February)

Can the new Sonic break the curse of the video game movie? Jumanji aside, there aren't many memorable movies either adapted from, or inspired by, our favourite console games, but Sonic appears to have it licked. The super-speedy Sega icon, who underwent a complete CGI redesign last year, is joined by the reliably rubber-faced Jim Carrey as the maniacal Doctor Robotnik.

The Call of the Wild (released 19th February)

If talking animals and ring-gathering hedgehogs aren't your bag, then why not settle for this sweeping book adaptation? The Call of the Wild is based on Jack London's 1903 classic, centering on domesticated dog Buck who is kidnapped and sold to an Alaskan sled-hauling operation. Planet of the Apes actor Terry Notary provides CGI motion capture for Buck, while Harrison Ford lends sturdy flesh and blood support as the dog's new owner.
