Obsessed with Jacob Elordi in Wuthering Heights? Now you need to watch him in Frankenstein as it finally hits the big screen

Jacob Elordi is the name on the tip of everyone’s tongue right now – and for good reason. He is the Heathcliffe to Margot Robbie’s Cathy in Wuthering Heights, an Emerald Fennell adaptation that has already accumulated approximately fifty gazillion hot takes. There’s also all those James Bond rumours circulating, for which Elordi is a popular choice for the next 007. And then, of course, there’s that not too shabby Oscar nom Elordi picked up for Best Supporting Actor in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

Originally released on Netflix with a limited cinematic release, now is your opportunity to see this masterpiece on the big screen as it deserves, arriving at Cineworld for the first time on the 5th March as a part of our Awards Film Season. These are all the reasons you need to book to watch Frankenstein at Cineworld now.

The set and locations in Frankenstein are breathtaking

That giant Royal Danish Navy ship in the North Pole? Made, to scale, for the film. Victor’s tower which houses his laboratory? Yep, you guessed it. Constructed in its entirety for the film.

Not to mention the beautiful locations featured throughout. Toronto was the stage for many of the snowy, arctic scenes, while the streets of Edinburgh brought to life the often grimy and sickly 1800s.

And it’s not just about the huge landscapes either – the small details highlight both Guillermo’s Catholicism and his Latin American upbringing through visuals like that of the Madonna and the motif of red throughout the film.

All of it needs to be seen blown up on the big screen.

Elizabeth’s costumes are mesmerising

A juxtaposition to the sickness and warfare going on in the country at the time, Elizabeth’s – played by Mia Goth – costumes are so blindingly bold and brilliant. The colours, the veils, it’s just another feast for the eyes. And we don’t want to say too much, but the wedding dress… Woof.

The complexity of each character’s dynamic is enthralling

There doesn’t seem to be one character where you don’t, at some point, feel your heart go out to them. Of course, Frankenstein is filled with morally grey characters and disgustingly privileged ones at that. But this film really tests where your alliance should be.

Victor and The Creature’s initial moments are so tender and sweet, while you wonder what might develop between The Creature and the soft and pure Elizabeth. The way in which Elizabeth seems to play with Victor, only to take him down a peg or two, to often be the only righteous character in the room.

And we honestly can’t talk about The Creature and the blind man and how he teaches him to read. Nope, not ready to open that box.

Jacob Elordi has the Academy sat

Look, no one was denying the guy was talented, but his role as The Creature in Frankenstein is so incredibly deserving of the Best Supporting Actor nomination. This is not an easy role to play. It’s physically demanding. We don’t get much dialogue from the guy until the final third of the movie. And yet…

And yet, we’re endeared by The Creature and the way he, in many ways, is experiencing life for the first time. We feel for him as he is shunned, and we root for him as he attempts to find his way. And that initial tenderness is born of Elordi’s grunts and awkward limbs. Oh, he’s just a bit good, isn’t he?

Frankenstein has been nominated for multiple categories at the Oscars

As well as Jacob Elordi picking up his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor as The Creature in Frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro’s movie has also scooped up nominations in eight other categories, including the big one of the night: Best Picture.

Given this is such a beautiful and intricate film to watch, a lot of its nominations sit within the creative categories, including Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Production Design. The director has also earned a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Book your tickets and watch Frankenstein at Cineworld on 5th March.
