Kevin Costner cements his reputation as a master of the old-school Western epic with his new film Horizon: An American Saga Chapter One. The film is the first installment in a sweeping four-part saga that chronicles the East-to-West expansion of the American frontier and the internecine conflicts between the white settlers and the indigenous Native American tribes.
Costner returns to his Dances with Wolves roots to paint on a truly awe-inspiring scale from the handsome vistas to the surging tones of John Debney's score. Costner also leads the all-star cast, which includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Danny Huston and Michael Rooker. Unlimited members were treated to a preview screening and, like the proverbial cowboy, we've rounded up some of their reactions.

I thought it was a well paced movie with great castings. I was glad to see it wasn't just your sterotypical western, gave a face to the Native American tribes and didn't just portray them as "savages" again. I did feel the ending of the chapter was a bit rushed though.

I thought it was superb. Very old school western that was perfect for the cinema.

Looking forward to chapter 2 👍
It was beautiful to look at with some stunning use of the American landscape as backdrops. Strong performances but it was very meandering and had too many disparate plot lines vying for attention. Boldly ambitious but could have been more focused.

I liked it, but will reserve full judgement until I see part 2 when it gets released.

The cinematography was top notch, one of the best looking films I’ve seen
