Sega icon Sonic is back on the big screen this April in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's the sequel to 2020's initial Sonic movie, which went on to become one of the most successful videogame adaptations of all time. Check out the latest Sonic 2 poster, which teases the brewing battle between the fleet-footed hero and Jim Carrey's diabolical Doctor Robotnik.
James Marsden and Tika Sumpter return from the previous film as Sonic's human allies, Tom and Maddie. The cast is further boosted, Super Sonic-style, by the presence of Idris Elba as Sonic's eternal frenemy Knuckles the echidna. Knuckles is on the side of Robotnik in the new movie, at least initially, as the latter seeks out the all-powerful Master Emerald with which he can rule the world.
Returning director Jeff Fowler again looks set to harness plenty of fan-pleasing Easter Eggs and more overt nods to Sonic's gaming heritage. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is released in Cineworld cinemas on 1st April.
