Past Lives has been acclaimed as one of the year's best films and Cineworld Unlimited members certainly agree. They were fortunate enough to watch Celine Song's moving drama before its UK release date and we've curated a selection of their enthusiastic responses.
The film centres on two South Korean acquaintances who were separated from each other when they were children. Reunited years later in New York, they must reconcile with the weight of the past and the possibility of what might have been had they stayed together.
Song's sensitive direction, the outstanding performances (from Greta Lee and Teo Yoo) and the piercing insight into cultural tradition have helped earmark the movie as an unusually perceptive and engrossing odyssey. Here's what Unlimited members made of the movie.
#PastLives was a slowly evolving story, 2 childhood friends each wondering if indeed they were meant to be. A lovely but tear jerking end to a beautifully crafted film.

A contender for film of the year. Such a sweet poignant story, feels very understated but packs a real punch. The performances felt so real. Honestly I can’t begin to articulate how I feel after watching this

It was a very heartwarming movie. The story was very well written, the acting was superb from the entire cast including Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, John Magaro and everyone else. Definitely give the movie a watch and I would suggest bringing tissues along. Overall Score: 9/10! Grade: A!

Absolutely floored. A film we can all take something away from. A beautiful mediation on a childhood friendship and a complexly poignant examination into relationships. Masterful performances where you believe so much in the characters. I will think about this for a long time.
