Acclaimed Australian director Justin Kurzel helms Nitram, in the process dramatising one of the most shocking episodes in his country's history.
An excellent cast led by Get Out's Caleb Landry Jones brings empathy and focus to this disquieting drama. Jones plays the titular Nitram, an isolated loner whose friendship with a neighbour soon causes him to spiral into chaos and destruction.
The movie screened last night for Cineworld Unlimited members and we wanted to know what they thought. Here are some of the curated responses.
A powerful drama that I wasn't sure about at first, but the slow burn of the film only makes it more fascinating to watch. Well directed and a great cast with Caleb Landry Jones perfectly cast as #Nitram ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Incredibly harrowing yet very topical and relevant with recent news stories. Caleb Landry Jones and Judy Davis were incredible. A dark watch yet important film. Our audience sat through the credits in silence. A lot to take in but the overall portrait was harrowing yet daring.

Quality drama, wonderfully filmed with great performances. Didn’t realise it was a true story until very late in the film .

The silence of the auditorium when the lights came on says it all. A very tense and grim watch, but Caleb Landry Jones gave an ace performance. Glad I finally got to an unlimited viewing.

Absolutely incredible. I knew nothing going in, wasn't aware it was a true story. It left me in utter shock at the end. Incredible film, horrific story.

Really enjoyed it. Was very well made and built the tension and had the awkwardness to show the characters. Very well acted and I liked the ending the way it did really put into perspective the complete horror that occurred.

Nitram is on release in selected Cineworld cinemas from 1 July.
Missed the screening? Lucky you – we've got an advance showing of Where the Crawdads Sing on 19 July. Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones takes the lead in this adaptation of Delia Owens' atmospheric best seller. Set in the marshes of North Carolina, the movie juxtaposes a coming-of-age story with a gripping murder mystery and a tender ode to the natural world.
