Upcoming horror movie Nope is shrouded in mystery – and that's just the way we like it. What we do know is the film sports some serious prestige.
For starters, the Oscar-winning Jordan Peele is at the helm. Having dazzled and terrified with his satirical horror-comedies Get Out and Us, Peele is now set to provoke all over again with a story of apparent extraterrestrial threat.
We say 'apparent' there because the trailers for Nope seem to cook up a stew of social commentary and paranormal terror, touching on all manner of topical concerns.
The story is anchored by African-American Hollywood horse trainer siblings OJ (Get Out star and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya) and Em (Lightyear's Keke Palmer). Their familial bond powers the narrative and may even be responsible for the arrival of a mysterious cloud, one that brings terror to their isolated California community.
Racial tension, marginalisation, the history of filmmaking and a diabolical yet enigmatic threat – this is firmly within Peele's wheelhouse. Go behind the scenes to discover the connection between OJ and Em, and how it's set to make Nope another emotionally gripping horror experience.
Nope is released in Cineworld cinemas on 12 August. Will you be brave enough to experience Peele's new movie on the big screen? Let us know @Cineworld.
