The life story of one of the world's greatest musicians, Bob Marley, is about to come to the screen in all its glory and poignancy. Bob Marley: One Love casts fast-rising British star Kingsley Ben-Adir (soon to be seen in Barbie) as the pioneering reggae artist who propagated and promoted Jamaican culture and music both on and off the world stage. Here's the poster.
The movie, directed by King Richard's Reinaldo Marcus Green and co-starring Lashana Lynch as Marley's wife Rita, is described as "a powerful story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind [Bob Marley's] revolutionary music". The project has the backing of Marley's family and possesses a secret weapon in the form of Ben-Adir.
The talented actor has already stunned with his portrayal of Malcolm X in Regina King's One Night in Miami. He's also portrayed Barack Obama in The Comey Rule. Playing the rule-breaking Bob Marley will complete a hat-trick of portrayals of iconic individuals.
Before we present you with the newly released trailer, here's a trailer from Marley's son, Ziggy.
And without further ado, here's a teaser of Ben-Adir's transformative turn in Bob Marley: One Love. The movie is released in 2024.
