The Fabelmans featurettes take you behind the scenes of Steven Spielberg's new movie

Revered director Steven Spielberg adapts his own family history in The Fabelmans. This poignant and intimate drama has already won two Golden Globes and is poised to sweep the board at the forthcoming Oscar nominations (announced January 24th).

Spielberg uses the on-screen avatar of young Jewish kid Sammy Fabelman, an aspiring filmmaker, to interrogate his family history, namely Spielberg's parents' divorce. It was a painful and devastating event that left a deep and lasting impression on the director, one that he's channeled into many of his previous movies.

The excellent cast includes Michelle Williams and Paul Dano as Sammy's parents, plus Seth Rogen and Judd Hirsch as his adopted and blood relative uncles, respectively. The film is clad in nostalgic references to the past, beginning with Sammy's formative visit to see the sweeping epic The Greatest Show on Earth at the cinema.

The illustrious collaborators on The Fabelmans include screenwriter Tony Kushner who scribed Spielberg's Oscar-winning Lincoln (2012); composer John Williams whose association with Spielberg stretches back to 1974; cinematographer Janusz Kaminski who has worked with Spielberg since the seminal Schindler's List (1993); and production designer Rick Carter who has worked on many Spielberg productions including A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), War of the Worlds (2005) and War Horse (2012).

Go behind the scenes in the following extracts as key members of Spielberg's 'stock company' discuss bringing this intensely personal project to the screen.
