The Batman continues to prove its mettle at the global box office as it circles the $600 million mark. The Warner Bros/DC reboot, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, landed at the American number one spot for the third week in a row.
Reports Box Office Mojo, The Batman added $36.8 million to its domestic haul, bringing its domestic total to $300 million. Its total international tally currently stands at $598 million, which should keep Bruce Wayne in the black (literally) for some time.
Robert Pattinson's gloomy reinvention of Batman has been acclaimed by critics. Reviewers have also praised the movie's Gothic sense of style and a memorable rogue's gallery of supporting players including Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin and Andy Serkis as Alfred.
The end scene of The Batman leaves us with many questions as to The Batman 2. The sequel hasn't officially been greenlit but Matt Reeves is said to be mapping out the characters and comic boy storylines featuring in The Batman sequel.
With that much lucre in the bank, it surely won't be long before The Batman 2 is officially confirmed. The Batman is close to trebling its production budget of $200 million, making it one of the most successful movies released during the pandemic.
