Nothing beats the sheer thrill of watching the latest movie blockbusters at the cinema. Whether you love high-speed car chases, haunted houses or heartbreaking romances, seeing the action unfold on a giant screen, with a big box of popcorn on your lap, is the perfect way to spend a couple of hours.
So, it's no wonder that there's now an annual event dedicated to the movie-going experience. National Cinema Day is celebrated in September, with the latest event taking place last Saturday (3rd). Here at Cineworld, we marked the occasion by giving film fans the chance to watch any movie – whether it be in IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, Superscreen or standard 2D – for the reduced price of £3.
The day was a roaring success, with customers arriving in their droves to catch blockbusters such as Top Gun: Maverick, Beast and E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (40th Anniversary) on our massive cutting-edge screens – and all for a bargain price.
If you were among those who joined us in celebrating National Cinema Day, we'd love to hear about your experience, so why not send a tweet and a picture to us @cineworld. In the meantime, take a look at some of the photos our cinema colleagues took during this film-tastic event.
If you weren't able to join us on National Cinema Day, don't worry – from this Friday (9th September) until Thursday 22nd September, you can watch some of the latest movie releases, like Minions: The Rise of Gru and Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as some old classics, including Interstellar and the Dark Knight trilogy, in 4DX, plus fan favourites Bullet Train and Top Gun: Maverick in ScreenX, for the price of a standard adult ticket.

Just watched an all time favourite- ET @cineworld for #NationalCinemaDay. Haven’t seen it on the big screen since its original release. What an amazing experience to see it in iMax with my children. I definitely didn’t cry…a number of times. Thanks @cineworld for putting ET on!

Thanks #NationalCinemaDay2022 @Cinema_UK for tempting me to @cineworld @IMAX #LeicesterSquare to see the wondrous ET. Hard to believe he's 40 years old #ET40th - but this is a film that doesn't date. I still wept loads which amused the kids mightily! pic.twitter.com/B4hAHyAlqP
