Sony's Spider-Man Universe is expanding even further. We've already had two Venom movies, starring Tom Hardy in the title role, and Morbius, starring Jared Leto.
These Spider-Man-adjacent comic book adventures will now be bolstered by the arrival of Kraven the Hunter. One of Marvel's darkest and gnarliest anti-heroes is now getting the big-screen treatment with Kick-Ass' Aaron Taylor-Johnson going feral for our entertainment.
Margin Call and A Most Violent Year helmer J.C. Chandor is directing. He dramatises one of Spider-Man's deadliest foes, one of the founding members of the Sinister Six organisation who began life as Sergei Kravinoff, a renowned big game hunter.
As ever, it's unclear how much of the character's origins will translate onto the big screen. But with Russell Crowe playing Kraven's father, Ariana DeBose playing his voodoo-inflected love interest Calypso, Fred Hechinger as Kraven's half-brother Dmitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon and Alessandro Nivola as Kraven's feared nemesis Rhino, there's no denying the movie has an impressive cast.
This isn't a character who's set to play nice with the newly arrived poster keen to emphasise Kraven's bloody and brutal bonafides. Check out the trailer below ahead of the movie's release at Cineworld on October 6th.
