Prepare yourself for a bad romance this October in the Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck, the one-time clown turned Gotham City master criminal who found himself incarcerated in the infamous Arkham Asylum.
That's where writer-director Todd Phillips' eagerly awaited sequel picks up, as Arthur begins a twisted relationship with his therapist Harlene Quinzel (Lady Gaga), later to become his paramour in crime Harley Quinn. If that setup isn't enticing enough, here's the first poster that will really get your adrenaline flowing.
The movie is described as a jukebox musical that, according to Variety, "integrates at least 15 reinterpretations of 'very well-known' songs." Variety adds: "[One of the songs] is said to be 'That’s Entertainment' from the 1953 musical The Band Wagon, famously associated with Judy Garland."
The first trailer is said to arriving soon ahead of Joker: Folie à Deux's release on October 4th. Stay tuned to the blog for a full breakdown.
