Listen to Halle Bailey's rendition of 'Part of Your World' from Disney's The Little Mermaid

Have you booked your Cineworld tickets for The Little Mermaid yet? Before you do so, get in the Disney spirit by listening to Halle Bailey's stirring performance of the classic ballad 'Part of Your World', the music video for which is available now.

In her performance as Ariel, Bailey puts a new spin on the Alan Menken/Howard Ashman tune, fully transmitting a mermaid's desire to become human. Menken, for his part, returns to adapt his instrumentation and sparkling melodies from the original 1989 animation, which won him an Oscar for Best Original Score. (Both Menken and Ashman also claimed Best Original Song for 'Under the Sea'.)

The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric.

While mermaids are forbidden from interacting with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. The film co-stars Jonah Hauer-King (A Dog’s Way Home) as Eric; Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) as the voice of Sebastian; Awkwafina (Raya and the Last Dragon) as the voice of Scuttle; Jacob Tremblay (Luca) as the voice of Flounder; Noma Dumezweni (Mary Poppins Returns) as The Queen; Art Malik (Homeland) as Sir Grimsby; with Oscar®winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award nominee Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Bridesmaids) as Ursula.

Menken has collaborated with Disney regular and Moana veteran Lin-Manuel Miranda on the soundtrack. The latter has written four new songs for the movie, which is directed by Mary Poppins Returns helmer Rob Marshall, and is released on May 26th.
