The battle between two factions of the wizarding world escalates in next year's Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. In the latest instalment of the J.K. Rowling fantasy saga, the warmongering Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen, who takes over from Johnny Depp) doubles down on his efforts to create a pureblood army.
Standing in his way: the young Dumbledore (Jude Law), who is tormented by his personal history with the dark wizard. Dumbledore recruits magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to his cause, along with muggle baker Jacob (Dan Fogler).
It's a blend of familiar faces and new ones in the latest Fantastic Beasts epic from director David Yates, who has imported the skills of Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves. Here's a new poster teasing the return of Fawkes the Phoenix to Hogwarts – Dumbledore's companion was last seen on the big screen in 2009's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (Already, we can hear that soaring John Williams theme.)
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is released on 8th April 2022.
