Deadpool 3 will be the MCU's first R-rated movie confirms Kevin Feige

It's official: Deadpool is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And he's not going to be neutered by the demands of his new distributor, Disney. In fact, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige has confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be the first R-rated movie in the MCU. (Broadly speaking, that's the equivalent of a 15 certificate in the UK, which has greeted the previous two Deadpool films.)

Feige told Collider: "It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and [Ryan Reynolds is] overseeing a script right now. It will not be filming this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life."

Mr. Pool is expected to join Phase Five of the MCU, which will already house a new-look Fantastic Four team. (There are also rumours of a new X-Men ensemble.) Naturally, Reynolds himself got in on the action with a Twitter message.

Reynolds has already confirmed that the writers of animated sitcom Bob's Burgers will be scripting Deadpool 3. All the omens are good for a naughty, blood-soaked and entertaining third instalment in the comic book franchise. There's no release date yet, but stay posted @Cineworld for more info.
