It'll soon be time to sharpen those knives (and grey cells) again when Daniel Craig reprises his role as Benoit Blanc in Knives Out 2. Rian Johnson will be following up his smash-hit 2019 murder mystery/comedy with a whole new ensemble cast, led by Craig's drawling, eagle-eyed private investigator.
Plot details are under wraps but it has been confirmed that Dave Bautista and Edward Norton will be among the new faces. The former is famous for Guardians of the Galaxy, the latter for movies such as American History X (Norton also had a short-lived stint as Marvel's Incredible Hulk).
Johnson will once again be collaborating with distributor Lionsgate who enjoyed a huge box office success with the first film. After riding a crest of critical acclaim, Knives Out grossed $311 million against its $40 million budget, vindication for a dialogue-driven non-franchise property that was decidedly low on visual effects.
Of course, the real effect was Johnson's sparkling dialogue and fiendishly clever mystery plot. Having already solved an apparently impossible death (Christopher Plummer's author Harlan Thrombey), Blanc will surely be facing another head-scratching riddle in the sequel.
