This week's must-see comic book movie release Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse redefines everything you thought you knew about the web-slinger.
It's the first animated movie within Sony's expanding Spider-Man canon, introducing moviegoers to the concept of the 'multi-verse'. Essentially, the movie groups together a host of alternate Spider-Man characters for a funny, self-referential and visually exuberant superhero tale, at the centre of which is mixed race teenage wall-crawler Miles Morales.
Since making his comic book debut in 2011, the character of Miles has been acclaimed for how he brings grace notes of diversity and inclusivity to the Spider-Man universe. And his big screen debut is no less significant, opening our minds to the concept of Spidey characters beyond the familiar figure of Peter Parker.
We were delighted to catch up with voice actor Shameik Moore, best known for his role as Shaolin Fantastic in Netflix series The Get Down, to discuss his portrayal of Miles and why he couldn't wait to tell everybody he was Spider-Man. Check it out below.
