What's the story? A SIMPLE FAVOUR, a stylish post-modern film noir directed by Paul Feig, centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mummy blogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town. Stephanie is joined by Emily's husband Sean (Henry Golding) in this thriller filled with twists and betrayals, secrets and revelations, love and loyalty, murder and revenge.

The House With a Clock in Its Walls

What's the story? In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and Cate Blanchett star in The House With a Clock in Its Walls. A film for the whole family, this magical adventure tells the tale of 10-year-old Lewis, an orphan who is sent to live with his Uncle Jonathan in a creaky old house. But his new home is far from ordinary and soon reveals a secret world of warlocks and witches. The house is enchanted, and Lewis must join his uncle on a quest to discover the source of a mysterious ticking within its walls.

The Little Stranger

What's the story? Based on the best-selling novel by Sarah Waters, THE LITTLE STRANGER tells the story of Dr Faraday, the son of a housemaid, who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. During the long hot summer of 1948, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. But it is now in decline and its inhabitants - mother, son and daughter - are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life. When he takes on his new patient, Faraday has no idea how closely, and how disturbingly, the family's story is about to become entwined with his own.

The Intent 2: The Come Up

What's the story? THE INTENT 2: THE COME UP centres on Jay (Ghetts) who has big dreams; but his ambitions are crippled by his allegiance to both his crew and Hackney crime boss Beverley (Sharon Duncan-Brewster). Jay sets about laying the foundations for his own organised crime ring with the help of Mustafa (Adam Deacon). Things are going well until Beverley discovers his disloyalty, and an ill-fated robbery in North London and a trip to Jamaica tears the crew apart. All the while, their actions are being monitored by an undercover Met Police officer Gunz (Dylan Duffus), who has been deployed to integrate himself into the crew.

What's the story? Drawn from a cache of personal video recordings from the past 22 years, director Steve Loveridge's Sundance award winning MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. is a startlingly personal profile of the critically acclaimed artist, chronicling her remarkable journey from refugee immigrant to pop star. What's the story? When 20 dancers discover their drinks are spiked by LSD they are overcome by a strange madness. Soon it is impossible for them to resist the hypnotic and the increasing electric rhythm of the music. While some are in paradise, most of them plunge into hell.

What's the story? 'A Star is Born' stars four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper ('American Sniper,' 'American Hustle,' 'Silver Linings Playbook') and multiple award-winning, Oscar-nominated music superstar Lady Gaga, in her first leading role in a major motion picture. Cooper helms the drama, marking his directorial debut. In this new take on the tragic love story, he plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer... until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally's career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

What's the story? Saamy Sqaured is a story of Ramasaamy, the son of Aarusaamy who faces the wrath of the three sons (Bobby Simha, John Vijay and OAK Sundar) of Perumal Pichai. Both the characters Ramasaamy and Aarusaamy are played by Chiyaan Vikram.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu (Hindi)

What's the story? Batti Gul Meter Chalu is a social drama that talks about friends, families and relationships in small cities. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, this is a light-hearted drama that focuses on the electricity issues in rural areas. Based in Garhwal, Uttarakhand, this young quirky film revolves around the life of three friends living life to the fullest in a small city.

The Big Lebowski 20th anniversary re-issue (Monday 24th September, 8pm)

What's the story? This hilariously twisted comedy-thriller stars Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi and Julianne Moore. Nureyev: Lifting the Curtain (Tuesday 25th September, 7.30pm)

What's the story?This striking and moving documentary from BAFTA nominated directors, Jacqui and David Morris, traces the extraordinary life of Rudolf Nureyev, the most famous male dancer that transcended fame in the dance world to become a pop culture icon of his time. It charts his rise from humble beginnings, to his eventual defection to the West, an event that shocked the world. The film contextualises not just the man but also the times in which he lived, discussing the politically charged divide between Russia and the West and the critical role that Nureyev played as a cultural and global phenomena. Blending never-before-seen footage, an original score by award-winning composer Alex Baranowski, and a spellbinding series of exclusive modern dance tableaux directed by Royal Ballet alumnus Russell Maliphant, Nureyev is a theatrical and cinematic experience like no other biopic.

NT Live: King Lear (Thursday 27th September, 7pm)

What's the story? Five Stars: 'Ian McKellen reigns supreme in this triumphant production.' (Daily Telegraph). Broadcast live from London's West End, see Ian McKellen's 'extraordinarily moving portrayal' (Independent) of King Lear in cinemas. Chichester Festival Theatre's production received five-star reviews for its sell-out run, and transfers to the West End for a limited season. Jonathan Munby directs this 'nuanced and powerful' (The Times) contemporary retelling of Shakespeare's tender, violent, moving and shocking play. Considered by many to be the greatest tragedy ever written, King Lear sees two ageing fathers – one a King, one his courtier – reject the children who truly love them. Their blindness unleashes a tornado of pitiless ambition and treachery, as family and state are plunged into a violent power struggle with bitter ends.
