On Earth, everyone will be able to hear your scream when A Quiet Place: Part 3 lands in cinemas. The third instalment in the scarily brilliant horror franchise will reach us in 2025, confirms director John Krasinki. He made the announcement as part of the recent Paramount Studios investment day, although few other details were forthcoming.
A Quiet Place spin-off movie has already been announced. Initially set to be directed by Mud's Jeff Nichols, the responsibility now falls to Pig director Michael Sarnoski who will work from an idea developed by Krasinski. One expects the spin-off movie to run in parallel with the legacy narrative, to which A Quiet Place: Part 3 belongs.
Released in 2018, A Quiet Place made a blockbusting virtue of its minimalist sound design, throwing us into a terrifying world of monsters (later revealed to be alien invaders) that hunt via sound. Buoyed by Krasinski's pacy direction and empathetic performances, including Krasinski's real-life spouse Emily Blunt, the movie was a critical and financial smash.
So successful was it that the sequel, A Quiet Place: Part II, was immediately greenlit. Eventually released in May 2021 after numerous pandemic-enforced delays, the movie proved to be something of a salve for the battered theatrical industry, defying expectations and racking up a strong box office performance. The movie, now absent Krasinski's character Lee, sent the beleaguered Abbot family on a journey into the unknown to find more survivors, with Cillian Murphy joining the fray as a man haunted by his past.
It remains to be seen if Blunt, along with Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds who portray her on-screen children, will return. In the meantime, Krasinski is prepping his next directorial offering If, starring Ryan Reynolds, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Steve Carell, and due out in 2023.
